Hearing gunshots ring outside my project window…
\n10 years old and wondering what did place me here for?
\nAll I know is that I gots to protect my Mama and Sis…
\nBut each time shotz rang out I duck down like a puss…<\/p>\n
There has to be a way that those dealers and thugs can be beat!
\nI’ve got some ideas, though I ain’t sure how to take on this feat
\nSo I continuously analyze this challenging situation beyond my door…
\nAs the only male in my home I must secure them from my core!<\/p>\n
Journeying out into the Hood I now despise, and at times fear…
\nThis path is not clear, but of these other young boys I’ll be a peer…
\nWe will combine our knowledge and figure out how to wipe Mama’s tear.
\nEven if it requires becoming the very same monster which scarred a childhood career.<\/p>\n
That’s right my dear, we boys are so afraid that a mean man we appear…
\nFor the fact of this matter is that we’ve yet to develop, can’t you hear..?
\nListen closer to our cries, and see the many masks worn by us my dear…
\nIt’s no wonder we gravitate from toy to gunz, projects to prisons without a jeer…<\/p>\n
Yet, make no mistake, we still need help raising that boy still inside…
\nRegardless of how big and tough we look our actions prove the boy can hide…
\nUntil it’s time for us to man up and fight our case or send gifts to Junior
\nPatience to learn the law and how to flip a store call had always been left over yonder…<\/p>\n
So be understanding of the arrested development we can’t classify.
\nBecause if we could this system would stop punishing and treat us, we ratify!
\nForcing them to view and treat us as humans that has PTSD too…
\nLaying that next billion into the hands of changed convicts who know what to do!<\/p>\n
